Lois M. Wagner '40

Services for Lois M. Wagner, 96, Norfolk, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Dave Goehmann will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service at the church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

She died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.

She was born on June 17, 1921, in Gurley, to the Rev. Emil and Anna Minnie Boelling. Lois was a 1938 graduate of Norfolk High School and a 1940 graduate of Midland College school of business.

She married Alvin S. Ahlman on Aug. 26, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoskins. She worked at various banks and financial institutions early in her career, as well as worked for Congressman Karl Stefan in Washington D.C. during World War II. She worked at the Delay First National Bank & Trust Company in Norfolk from 1966 until her retirement in 1984.

Lois was active in various women’s organizations in her churches and the community. She was a dedicated spouse and mother of two children. She enjoyed the many camping, boating and fishing trips spent with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, reading and playing bridge with her friends. She had 52 years of wedded life with Alvin until his passing in 1993.

On Aug. 16, 1997, Lois married Roy E. Wagner. They were married for nine years before Roy’s passing in 2006. Together, they enjoyed spending time with Roy’s four children and their families and Lois’s two children and their families.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Virginia Martin of Phoenix, Ariz.; her son, Mark and spouse Darcy Ahlman of Lincoln; a sister, Karen Fox of Fremont; her grandchildren, Jennifer and spouse Justin Suhr of Phoenix, the Rev. Dr. Christopher and spouse Elizabeth Ahlman of Houston, Texas, Jeremy and spouse Angela Ahlman of Lincoln and Dana and spouse Matthew Moore of Omaha; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; both spouses, Alvin and Roy; a daughter in infancy; and sisters Eleanor Witt and Kathryn Hintz.
