COVID-19 Student Support Fund

A fundraising campaign for Midland University

Assisting students impacted by COVID-19 through scholarship support.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging and troubling time for people and families across the globe. Midland University has unfortunately been faced with difficult decisions since early March, as 65 of our students became exposed to the virus while volunteering in the community for a Special Olympics basketball tournament, where one of the players at the event tested positive for COVID-19 on March 6th. As a result, Midland University has been at the front edge of responding to the COVID-19 crisis in Nebraska and across the nation. Our response has included:

  • Creation of a COVID-19 Task Force
  • Self-quarantine for the 65 students who volunteered at the Special Olympics event
  • Online instruction for all undergraduate courses since March 7th, and difficult decision to continue online through the balance of the semester
  • Remote work option for employees since March 7th
  • Cancellation of all spring sports and extracurricular activities

As the situation continues to evolve, our number one goal is to support our students' health and well-being, as well as that of our faculty and staff. Midland University has established a COVID-19 Response Fund which will be used to create additional scholarships for students who may not be able to continue or persist to graduation due to a change in financial need.

President Horner and our Board of Directors are committed to supporting these students during these unprecedented times, and together, with you, helping provide ways to support our students as they persist through their education at Midland and graduate.
