The Midland University Speaker Series is designed to provide the Midland and Fremont community with thoughtful and meaningful discussions on important diversity, equity, privilege and inclusion topics to promote thinking and personal & institutional application.

Bruce has been involved in improving access and equity in education at both the K-12 and higher education level. Prior to joining St. Olaf as Chief Diversity Officer in 2008, Dr. King served as assistant vice president for academic affairs and chief diversity officer at the University of South Dakota. He also served as adviser to the president on multicultural affairs at Carleton College from 1993 to 1997, system director for diversity and recruitment for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, and school administrator with the Bloomington Public Schools and Northwest Suburban Integration School District in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
