Rev. Dr. Ralph and Ree Ritzen Scholarship

Rev. Dr. Ralph and Ree Ritzen Scholarship

The Rev. Dr. Ralph and Ree Ritzen Scholarship was established in 2021 in celebration of alumni Ralph ('44) and Anna Marie "Ree" (x'44) Ritzen. Receiving his degree from Midland in 1944, Ralph went on to graduate from Western Theological Seminary in 1947. After an active ministry, he came to Midland to direct the Admissions program for 26 years before returning to the ministry.  Anna Marie "Ree" Hoesly Ritzen attended Midland as an education major from 1940-1942 and taught elementary education in Nebraska before and after they were married in 1944.  Their family includes alumni Ann ('74) and Bob ('77).

The Ritzen family's devotion to Midland, developed nearly 100 years ago when Ralph's father Martin enrolled, has done much to strengthen the university and its Christian faith. A quest for knowledge, the building of faith, and the desire to improve the community are evidence of the vibrance of  Ralph and Ree Ritzen and the extended Ritzen family.

The Rev. Dr. Ralph and Ree Ritzen Scholarship is awarded to students of good academic standing with an encouragement to use their education in service to others. Preference is given to students with financial need.
