Alton 'Mook' Wilhelms '47

Alton 'Mook' WilhelmsAlton 'Mook' Wilhelms, age 95, of Lincoln, formerly of Stromsburg, passed away April 10, 2018, at Bryan East in Lincoln. Alton was born January 25, 1923, in Bruning, to John Herman and Gertrude Minnie (Bowman) Wilhelms. He graduated Bruning High School, Hebron Junior College and Midland Lutheran College. He served in the military October 1942-February 1946, and the Korean War 1950 to 1952. Owner & publisher of the Polk Progress, The Headlight, Osceola Record and Shelby Sun. Past president of Nebraska Newspaper Advertising Service, Nebraska Newspaper Association, named Master Editor-Publisher, inducted into the Nebraska Newspaper Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife Ardis of Lincoln; sons, Gregory (Linda) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Douglas of Chicago, Illinois; daughters Brenda Wilhelms of Scottsdale, Arizona, Wendy Wilhelms of Phoenix, Arizona, and Wanda (Gregory) Wood of Lincoln; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery with military rites by Stromsburg Legion Post #132. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Stromsburg Library or Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
