A chance to compete on the shotgun sports team brought Kaleb Scherer to Midland University, but it was discovery of music that spurred a career.
Through his company, Kaleb Scherer Music LLC. in Nashville, Tennessee, Kaleb handles everything from booking and performing, marketing and management, and bringing live music to audiences across multiple states. As a singer, songwriter, and musician, he even has his own band (Kaleb Scherer and the Fender Benders).
The tight-knit community and the chance to be involved in extracurricular activities lured Kaleb from his hometown of Roseville, California, to Fremont. During his time on campus, he began to discover his love for music.
“Midland is where I first started doing music, and that played a huge role in shaping my passion and career. It gave me confidence to pursue music at a higher level, while also offering incredible experiences outside of the classroom.
The confidence, discipline, and work ethic I developed, both through music and being part of the shotgun sports team, have directly contributed to my success today. Whether performing on stage, or managing the business side of music, Midland gave me the foundation to chase my dreams.”
Kaleb enjoyed a successful run on the shotgun sports team, winning the Skeet National Championship with the Warriors in 2019. “That is one of my proudest moments. The feeling of competing at that level and bringing home a national title was unforgettable.”
When not busy with his music career, Kaleb enjoys traveling, discovering new music, and remains a competitive shooter.
He credits Midland for not only helping put him on the right track for a successful career, but shaping him into the person he is today.
“Midland provided a supportive community and opened many doors for me, especially in music. The friendships, experiences, and encouragement I received made Midland feel like home. The experiences I had, both as a musician and athlete, shaped who I am today. I’m proud to be part of the Midland alumni family, and I carry that pride with me as I continue growing my career and business.”
