Darlene Mae (Frimann) Aspinall of Kerrville, TX passed away on February 19, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Alliance, Nebraska, on May 27, 1944, and was raised on the family dairy farm in Hay Springs, Nebraska. She attended local schools where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Kenneth Aspinall. They would eventually have three children: Michael, Kenda, and Jodi. Darlene's life was defined by her commitment to her family, compassion for others, and her friendships, many of which lasted a lifetime.
Upon high school graduation she pursued her childhood dream of becoming a nurse by enrolling at Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska and received a Registered Nurse degree in 1966. One week later, on August 20th, Darlene married Ken. Together, they built a life filled with adventure as they moved to various locations for Ken's military career, including two overseas deployments to Germany. At each new location, Ken was most appreciative of her ability to establish a ''home'' for their family, transition the kids into new schools and activities, and become active in the local community. Upon military retirement in 1993, Darlene & Ken moved to Kerrville where she assisted him in opening and operating Hill Country Audiology for many years.
Darlene's professional career, as well as her day-to-day personal interactions, were marked by a natural desire to put others before self. Her dedicated nursing skills, bright smile and uplifting positivity embodied her nursing school's motto of ''Giving is Receiving''.
Darlene will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. She is now in the arms of her Savior, where she is at peace, surrounded by love, and forever a shining example of grace, devotion, and faith.
Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Aspinall; her parents Lawrence and Margaret Frimann; and her brothers Loren and Gerald. She is survived by her husband Ken; daughters Kenda Voltz (Alfred) and Jodi Aspinall; daughter-in-law Chris Aspinall, as well as four grandchildren: Jacob Voltz, Nathan Voltz, Josh Aspinall, Hannah Aspinall; and brother, Lonnie Frimann.
A celebration of life service will be held at Kerrville First United Methodist Church on March 7, 2026 at 2 p.m. There will be a graveside service at a later date.
Those wishing to honor Darlene may send contributions to one of her favorite charities: St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriner's Children's or the American Heart Association.
