Gordon Swenson '58

Gordon SwensonGordon John Swenson, 86, died on October 18, 2025 in Boise, Idaho.

Gordon was born on February 7, 1939 in Evansville, Minnesota to Rev. Swen and Mildred Swenson, and was raised in Aberdeen, Washington and Seattle. Gordon graduated from Luther Academy in Wahoo, Nebraska in 1957, attended Luther College in Wahoo, and graduated from the University of Washington in 1961.

Gordon met Edith Mae (Edi) Anderson at Luther College, and they were married on August 26, 1961 in Funk, Nebraska. Gordon then served five years as an United States Air Force officer. Gordon and Edi raised their two daughters in Shoreline, Washington, and moved to Boise in 1994. Gordon spent his career in corporate accounting and finance.

Gordon and Edi were lifelong and dedicated Lutheran church members and leaders, most recently at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Boise. Gordon treasured time with Edi and family and friends, loved classical music, kept his lawn immaculately mowed and trimmed, enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, ate gallons of vanilla ice cream, and carefully followed the stock market.

After his beloved wife Edi's death in mid-2016, Gordon's health also declined. He moved to Cornerstone Senior Living in Boise in late 2021, where he resided until his death. The family thanks the staff of Cornerstone Senior Living and Keystone Hospice for their love and care for Gordon.

Gordon is survived by daughters Karin Swenson-Moore (Nicholas Moore) of Mercer Island, Washington and Jeannette (Chase) Crichton of Walla Walla, Washington; grandchildren Grant (Marta) Crichton, Laurel Crichton Mulkin and Brita (Adam) Moore-Kutz; four great-grandchildren; brothers Norris and Larry Swenson; and many extended family and friends.

Gordon's life will be celebrated on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 3430 N. Maple Grove Road, Boise. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the King of Glory Lutheran Church Endowment Fund (care of the church) or the Keystone Hospice Foundation (21 N Fisher Park Way, Eagle, ID 83616).
