Lolly KindschuhDelores “Lolly” Kindschuh, 93, of Clinton, IA (formerly of Rock Island, IL) passed away in her sleep on Sunday, April 30th at Bickford of Clinton.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3rd at Zion Lutheran Church, 439 3rd Avenue S. in Clinton, IA. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory of Clinton is honored to serve the family. Her ashes will be scattered next to those of her husband, John, during a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Augustana College, Rock Island, IL or Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA.

Delores Marie Hall was born on June 14, 1929 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Rev. Clarence and Mildred Hall. She married John L. Kindschuh (from Oakland, NE) on December 16th, 1949 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before John died on February 15, 2019. She and John spent the early years of their marriage in Tempe, AZ then Burlington, IA where John served Lutheran congregations as pastor. They moved to Rock Island, IL in 1963 when he joined the staff at Augustana College. Both John and Lolly were active members of the Augustana community and remained in Rock Island until 2019. Lolly moved to Clinton, IA shortly after John’s death and enjoyed living (& driving!) independently until early 2023.

Lolly attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Moline, IL; a back injury kept her from completing her nurses training but she held a special interest in nursing and the medical profession. Her love for music began at age 5 with her first piano lesson; she later served as organist/choir director at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rock Island for many years. A life-long highlight of her daily routine included playing classical music and hymns.

Survivors include their three children: sons and daughters-in-law, John “Jack” Kindschuh and Gail Dover of Bettendorf, IA; Dr. Peter and Gayle Kindschuh of Whiteville, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Paul Wolf of Fulton, IL; six grandchildren: John (Cindy Traub) Kindschuh, Janet (Jeff Linzer) Kindschuh, Jeff (Selena) Kindschuh, Sarah (Nate) Kindschuh-Gill, Mary Kindschuh, Hillary Kindschuh, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Phil and Dan Hall, and her sister, Mary vonGillern.

Those who knew Lolly will remember her love for family, strong faith, music, gracious manner and genuine gratitude for life.
