Make a Gift in Memory of Gene Nelson
We were so grateful to have Gene attend Midland's 2018 Choir Reunion. During this special visit, he directed a performance of "Beautiful Savior" which can be viewed in this video.
Gifts made in memory of Gene Nelson will support the Gene Nelson Music Scholarship that supports music students at Midland University.
Gene grew the vocal music department during his years at Midland from 1962-1976. He founded the Clef Dwellers ensemble, created four USO tours around the world with his choral groups, scouted talented potential music students in neighboring cities and states, created the Twilight Dinner Theatre, and directed many musicals while in Fremont. He was also responsible for bringing famous musicians to perform at Midland, including top jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, and top-40 star Jim Croce.
If you have stories you'd like to share please email them to alumni@midlandu.edu or send in the mail to Midland University at 900 N. Clarkson St. Fremont, NE 68025. We will compile all the stories and memories and forward them to Gene's family.
