Midland University is proud to announce the addition of Casey Upton, ’26, as its new Annual Giving Officer.

Upton graduated from Midland this past May with a degree in Financial Services with a compressed Digital Marketing degree. He is looking forward to remaining on campus in a new capacity.

“I’m excited to get to work with a great team,” Upton said. “I’m looking forward to doing great work as a team, but also be able to lead some of my own initiatives and build on some of my own ideas.”

Laura Jensen, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, believes Upton’s engagement skills with both young alumni and current students will be a valuable component for her team. “Casey was a constant presence on the Midland campus in his time as a student, and built strong connections during those four years,” she said. “Casey’s personality fits this role very well and he will continue to build that strong bond with our young alumni.”

A native of Clinton, Mississippi, Upton came to Midland on a bowling scholarship and was a four-year member of the team. He integrated himself into campus life in many facets, serving as a Resident Advisor, Admissions Ambassador, and president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

“I love interacting with others and feel comfortable being in front of people. What was very appealing to me about this job was being able to move around, help host events, and meet new people,” Upton said. “I will be looking for ways to engage the Institutional Advancement department with current students and have them understand who we are and the role we play on campus.”

His experiences at Midland played a major role in his decision to make a home, and a career, in Fremont. “I love Fremont and I did not want to leave,” Upton said. “I love Midland, and it’s not hard for me to sell Midland to others. My main goal is to remind alumni of the good experiences they had at Midland and hopefully, they will want to invest in Midland. I want people to have that strong emotional connection to Midland.”
