Required Minimum Distribution – Charitable IRA Rollover
Have you ever considered making a donation to Midland through your IRA? Doing so not only allows you to continue to make an impact on students, but it also helps you minimize taxes!
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
Starting at age 70 ½, you can choose to make qualified charitable distributions, also called the charitable IRA rollover, through your retirement account.
- Donor must be 70 ½ or older at the time of transfer.
- The maximum amount you can contribute is $100,000 per year (married couples who file jointly each qualify for an annual QCD up to $100,000).
- The gift must be outright and transferred directly from the IRA account by the IRA administrator to Midland University.
- Such transfers are not included as taxable income and may not be claimed as a charitable income tax deduction. Check with your financial advisor to see how this applies to you.
Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
Starting at age 72, the IRS mandates annual withdrawals from your IRA, also known as required minimum distributions. Charitable Giving with an RMD may provide greater tax savings than traditional cash donations if made with a Qualified Charitable Distribution.
Beneficiary Designations
