Jack “Butch” Lindley, 85, 0f Omaha, passed away June 19.

Butch was born on July 22, 1937, to Jack and Dorothy (Larson) Lindley in Wahoo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John “Bill” Lindley; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Edmie Bachand. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children and spouses: Jim and Chris Lindley, Tom and Julie Lindley; grandchildren: Cody, Jayden, Spencer (Hilary), Kendell and Dylan; sister-in-law, Janet Ayers Lindley;brother-in-law, Lee (Judy) Bachand; nephews:  John (Ann) Lindley, Mike (Janet) Lindley, Bill (Amy) Lindley; nieces,  Patti (Steve) Ahlers, Ann (Jeff) McGill

He grew up in Wahoo and attended Wahoo Public Schools, U. of N. and Luther College.

Butch was a member of the Air National Guard and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and Lowry Air Force Base in Denver.

In 1960, Lindley Clothing opened a second location in Millard of which Butch was the manager.

In 1986, Butch began working at Ak-Sar-Ben in the race track sector.  Butch and Mary made many friends thru the years while enjoying horse racing.  After Ak-Sar-Ben Butch was employed by his good friend Rex Ekwall of Rite Way Oil & Gas until his retirement at the age of 70.

Butch’s most loved entertainment was professional rodeo.  Butch and Mary spent many early December days at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.  And of course, all Nebraska sports were favorites.

Just recently Butch was honored as a 60-year member of the Millard Lions Club.

In 2012, Butch was honored with induction into the Millard Business Association Hall of Fame.

For many years, Butch was active in the Wahoo Saddle Club.

Also, Butch was a volunteer for the Ak-Sar-Ben Rodeo and later instrumental in the start-up of the Omaha Rodeo.

In 1978, Butch was diagnosed with hairy cell leukemia and spent 78 days in protected environment at M. D. Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston.  After recovery from treatment and modern medicine, he was able to have a healthy happy active life until a stroke in September 2020.

One of Butch’s most admired qualities, was his love of all people and his many friends and family.  Butch never met a stranger.

VISITATION:  Friday, June 23rd, from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel.  SERVICES: Saturday, June 24th at 10:30am, West Center Chapel.  Graveside Service: Saturday, 2:30pm at Sunrise North Cemetery in Wahoo, NE.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to Omaha Rodeo or Millard Public Schools Foundation.
