Alma continued to maintain an interest in the community and for many years actively served on the boards of the Gove County Medical Center Endowment, Quinter, Kansas, and Western Plains Arts’ Association, Colby, Kansas.

One of her greatest pleasures was co-directing summer Broadway musicals for the Prairie Community Theatre, Quinter, Kansas, with Carole Crist.  Her entire adult life was in the performing arts, either teaching or directing.
