Danielle Misfeldt Alumni Spotlight

Coming from the West Coast, Danielle Misfeldt (Weddle) had every intention of returning home once her college journey was complete. But after four years at Midland University, those plans changed.

“My plan was always to return to California when I was done with school, but Nebraska sucked me in. I have been in Fremont since 2012 and am now married to a Fremont native.”

Danielle Misfeldt Alumni Spotlight QuoteFor the past 10 years, Misfeldt has been a labor and delivery nurse at CUMC Bergan Mercy in Omaha. Prior to that, she spent time working in long term care at Nye Legacy and acute care on Creighton’s PINS unit.

It was Midland’s strong nursing program that drew her from Pinon Hills, California to Fremont, as well as some family ties to both the university and Fremont.

“Midland gave me great networking opportunities and prepared me to pass my NCLEX on my first try. I hold two national certifications in Obstetrics and am proud to be a preceptor for students and new hires in my unit. I have also been voted the ‘vein whisperer’ for my unit, allowing me to show off my favorite nursing skill: IV starts and blood draws.”

While Midland set her up for a career in healthcare, the friendships she formed along the way also remain important to her. “I loved dorm life. My closest friends were the girls that lived on the same floor as me my freshman year, and I am still close with many of those people today.”

Misfeldt and her husband have a 12-year old daughter as well as a dog and cat. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, kayaking, live music, and archery.
