Alumni Spotlight: Jake Loftus ’15
From his time as a student, to now a staff member, Jake Loftus ’15 credits his evolution as a person and a professional to Midland University.
“Midland allowed me to grow as a person and come out of my shell. At first, I was very introverted when I wasn’t around my friends or teammates, and Midland gave me the tools, relationships, and knowledge to be successful. Midland is built on people and relationships, and since being a student here, I have always wanted to continue working with people.”
In his role as Assistant Director and Athletic Recruitment Liaison at Midland, Jake has the opportunity to work with students, parents, and coaches on a daily basis.
Jake came to Midland because it gave him the opportunity to continue his baseball career, and play close to his family in Omaha. The successes and relationships he built during his time on the baseball diamond are something he continues to carry with him to this day.
“I met my wife (Maggie McCargar) while at Midland, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. I was fortunate to win a GPAC championship as a player and coach here and still have a handful of records that I hold.”
Jake and Maggie have two young children, 5-year old Wyatt and 2-year old Emma, that they love spending time with. Jake is still involved in baseball as he helps coach at Bennington High School. He also enjoys golfing and fishing.
