Mike Wilson’s singular goal when enrolling at Midland University was to study history. As it turned out, he left Midland having done, and learned, much more.
“I came to Midland to study History, that was it. But I left with so much more. My professors and my advisor spent four years helping me find my path, explore my education, and set me up for success in graduate school.”
Wilson went on to earn his Masters in Integrated Media Communication from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He currently works with RHD Consulting as a Business & Project Development Manager.
A Fremont native, Wilson said his visit to campus locked in his decision to continue his education in his hometown. “I fell in love with the Midland community after my visit. I was drawn to smaller class sizes, building meaningful connections with my professors, and having the opportunity to really dive into my major.”
Memories of Midland he carries with him include the warm welcome he received during move in day, receiving his medallion on commencement day, and experiencing living in Augustine Hall.
Wilson is now working to give back to the institution that gave so much to him. He is part of the Midland Mentorship program, where he meets twice each month with a current student. “It’s been so cool to reconnect with campus in that way. As a Midland alum, I’m forever grateful for my time at Midland.”
In his spare time, Wilson enjoys running and photography.
