Arnold "Arnie" Johnson L'61

Arnie JohnsonArnold Keith Johnson, 81 of Chappell died November 15, 2022 at Sidney Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 19 at Berea Lutheran Church northeast of Chappell with Pastor Scotty Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday at Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Chappell.

Arnie was born in Julesburg, Colorado on April 8, 1941 to Elmer and Ingrid (Johnson) Johnson. Arnie was a lifelong member of Berea Lutheran Church. He attended country school and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1959. Upon graduating he attended Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska for two years.

After returning to work on the family farm in Garden County he married Norma Peterson. Two children were born to this union: daughter, Deann and son, Tim.

Arnie's many careers in which he was usually working more than one at a time included: farming his entire life, custom harvesting (26 years), over the road trucking (25 Years), volunteer fire fighter, carpet installer, packing house and county road worker.

Arnie later divorced. He then married the love of his life Jeanne Davidson on October 11, 1979, and added three sons to his family Duane, Jim and Bobby.

Arnie continued to farm, drive truck and was the Chappell and Creek Valley Schools Bus and Activities Driver for 27 years.

Arnie always had a story to tell or an opinion to share. His family was his world. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping at the lake with his boys, watching football, baseball, and rodeo on tv and reading his newspapers and Fence Post.

Arnie is survived by his children: Deann and husband, Tim Speirs of Chappell, Tim and wife, Kim Johnson of Chappell, Duane and wife Bilinda of Moore Haven, Fl, Bobby and wife Angie of Colorado Springs, CO. Ten grandchildren: Trevor, Levi, Lexi, Skylar, Maddy, Alyson, Abbie, Chance, Anna and Ethan and seven great grandchildren. Brother, Orv (Karen) of Wahoo, brother Lloyd (Bonnie) of Ogallala, sister-in-law Twila of Chappell, sister- in-law Donna of Seattle, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant brothers, older brothers Merv and Milt, infant daughter Christine and wife Jeanne.
