Building Strength: How Midland University's Strength and Conditioning Department is Shaping the Future of Warrior Athletics
With new faces and new equipment, the Midland University strength and conditioning department has undergone a transformation over the past four years. With upgraded facilities and additional staff, the current generation of Warriors are able to train more effectively to dominate the GPAC. The strength and conditioning staff now coach over 700 athletes throughout the week.
In the summer of 2021, Aaron Bozarth was named the head Strength and Conditioning coach. During the 2021-22 season, the strength and condition department was able to add a second weight room, primarily used by teams with smaller rosters. The larger teams have made use of it as well, just in smaller groups spread throughout the day.
The 22-23 season saw the addition of a second graduate assistant position for the S&C department. This additional coach has allowed the department to more efficiently handle the more than 700 student-athletes that come through our doors. Toward the end of the academic year, the football program was able to add a full-time coaching position, serving as a football only strength coach/ position coach. This position is currently held by Chad Nolan.
Even more growth was seen in 23-24. This year saw the Hopkins weight room receive a massive upgrade. Ten new navy and orange squat racks from Powerlift were installed in November. Along with the racks, a full complement of Olympic bumper plates and barbells were added. These racks allowed the facility to be used more efficiently to better serve our student-athletes.
Even more racks have been added recently. In November, we saw the addition of an identical set of 10 new racks from Powerlift. In the Hopkins facility, we are now up to 20 training stations for the Warriors. In total, we now have 26 racks between the two facilities. Each station is outfitted with an iPad for the students to access their workout plan through Teambuildr.
We all greatly appreciate everything that the alumni have done to support the current generation of student-athletes. Go Warriors!
