Dr. Janet Lack and Doug...
David Lee Jones, Sr., of Carrollton, Mo., formerly of Council Bluffs, peacefully passed away Sunday evening, September 17, 2017, at “10:10” making his “Transmission Complete, Standing By.” at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kan.
He was blessed with an earthly life of, 70 years, 10 months, and 22 days. It was on October 26, 1946, in Council Bluffs, that the Lord blessed the home of William Victor and Doris Lualice (Walker) Jones with the gift of a son. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. He worked for Kenworth Truck as Parts Manager for ten years. David went on to own his own construction business. He also worked at Iowa Western Community College and Midland Lutheran College as Physical Plant Director for several years before retiring. David was always on the go. He was a jack of all trades but his choice trade was carpentry and he was well known as a skilled and impeccable artisan. He enjoyed traveling and driving his truck while conversing on the CB radio. David’s most ample diversion was going fishing or being near water, as it provided him much pleasure and the needed peace. He was a patient man and would attentively listen and guide with wisdom. David was recently surprised with the birth of his only grandchild, Zachary, which was the most anticipated and happiest day for all. David was of the Baptist faith.
David is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia; and four-year-old little brother, Dennis Jones.
David is survived by son, David Lee (Carrie) Jones, Jr.; his one-year-old grandson, Zachary Jones; sister, Glenda Graybill; and brother, Robert Jones, both of Council Bluffs.
Memorial Services will commence at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Carrollton United Methodist Church with Reverend Anselm Williams, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any Memorial contributions be made to family choice in memory of Mr. Jones.
