David W. Christensen, 71, of Fremont died Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Fremont to Byron and Elaine (Reeves) Christensen. He was raised in rural Fremont in the farming community. He was a Fremont High School graduate and attended Midland College where he played football, setting several records as a running back.
He was married in 1966 to Jackie Isaacson in Fremont, and she preceded him in death in 1991. Later, this year in 2018, David married Sandy Cadwallader here in Fremont.
David had farmed the family farm, did custom farming, and had worked for Monke Brothers. He was also a fabricator, welder, and built custom corn heads, row crop heads, and toolbars.
He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and volunteered many hours there.
Surviving are his wife Sandy; three daughters, Trish (Matt) Myers, Fremont, Nikki Christensen (special friend Dusty) , Nickerson, Dawn Burmester, Fremont; two sons, Cody Christensen (special friend Tonya) Henderson, Nevada, Henry Christensen (fiancée Kim) Henderson, Nevada; 9 grandchildren, 4 ½ great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy (Gary) Chulata, Canon City, Colorado; special friend, Lori Wozny of Fremont; and his cat, Tazzie.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Elaine; wife, Jackie; sister, Jane Gray who lived in Nashville, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church (16th and Nye). Vicar Shari Schwedhelm will officiate. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Timothy Lutheran Church and American Legion Baseball. There is no public visitation.
