Dennis was born to Cyrus (Eliason) Weeks and Emma Bush in Omaha on July 31, 1941. At 6 months, Dennis lost his father and moved with his mother as she went to school to become a teacher. He moved at the age of 12 to live with his Grandma, Ida Bush, and Uncle, Andrew Bush, on the farmstead near Hordville in Hamilton County. He attended school from fifth grade through high school at Hordville. After graduating from high school, he attended Midland Lutheran College in Wahoo and studied business and religion, even giving a few sermons. He joined the Air Force in 1961 and went home to marry Dorothy Ann Bengston, the love of his life, in 1962. He continued his service, implementing one of the first computer systems to handle accounting in the Air Force. He and his young family, now expanded to four with two sons, Bryan and Douglas, returned to Omaha in 1965. Their family grew to five when Bradley was born in 1969.
He worked at NCR as a software engineer in the 1970s. He then moved to Vice President of IT at Council Bluffs Savings Bank in Iowa. He ended his career at Jennie Edmundson Hospital and the Methodist Health System, managing a variety of different departments until retiring in 2008.
Dennis loved spending time with his family, especially when it could be outdoors, camping, hiking and always riding his bike. He rode in the Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) for over 28 years. He took much pleasure in his retirement, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for many treasured hours. He was a wonderful man who lived for his family and touched many lives with his strength. We will miss him dearly.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Bryan (Sharon), Douglas (Leah) and Bradley (Heidi); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Emma Crawford; sister, Marilin Crawford; brothers, Marvin Crawford (Becky) and John Crawford (Julie); nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cy; grandmother, Ida Bush; and uncle, Andrew Bush.
