Donald J. Nunnally '50

Donald J. Nunnally, son of Charles and Kathryn (Ditter) Nunnally, passed away April 2, 2019. Don was born in Genoa on August 1, 1929. Don grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe in 1946 and Midland College (Fremont) in 1950. 1950-51 he taught at Arlington High School. Don graduated from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville, Illinois, in 1954.

Don was married to Barbara E. Countryman in Hooppole, Illinois, on June 9, 1954. Don was ordained an elder in the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Murdoch on June 20, 1954. They served the following churches: Seward EUB (1954-58), Aurora EUB (1958-68), Hastings Grace UMC (1968-75), district superintendent of the Southwest District UMC (1975-81), Lincoln Calvary UMC (1981-86), Alliance-Lakeside UMC (1986-1991), Wayne-Carroll UMC (1991-94).

Don and Barb retired to Hastings in 1994 where they continued to enjoy traveling, camping, and gardening. Don enjoyed researching his family genealogy, following the Huskers, and hearing about his grandchildren's activities.

Don was preceded in death by wife, Barbara. Survived by daughter Jan Williamson (Steve), son Doug Nunnally (Carrie), son Bruce Nunnally, daughter Carol Countryman (Tedd Enck), and son Gary Nunnally (Melanie). Grandchildren include Heather and Zachary Williamson, Christian and Ian Nunnally, Halie Moore, Hanna Nunnally, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Isaiah Nunnally. Great-grandchildren include Blake and Brooklyn Robb, Colton Blitz, and Alex Nunnally.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 M Street, Lincoln.
