Doris E. TreptowDoris Eloise (Erickson) Treptow was born on the family farm near Mead on Oct. 9, 1923 to Henry and Lillie (Lind) Erickson. After high school, Doris earned a teaching certificate from Luther College and taught primary and middle school in Ceresco, Valparaiso and Fremont. She worked for two summers at the ordnance plant near Mead and for 17 years in accounts receivable at Boys Town. On Aug. 20, 1948 she married Gerald G. Treptow at Alma Lutheran Church in Mead.

Her strong Christian faith led to her lifelong appreciation of the beauty of nature. She loved being outdoors, where she could garden, enjoy her flowers and read her bible. She took great pleasure in her family, family history and reunions. Doris lived on her family farm until she was 91 years old, when she moved to Wahoo. She was a lifelong member of Alma Lutheran Church in Mead, where she was active in bible studies and the Chat and Sew group, which made quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Jo Ann Treptow of Ithaca; daughter and son-in-law, Diann and Dr. James Fuxa of Cypress, Texas; sister, Genevieve Christensen of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Jean Erickson of Mead; grandsons, Alex (Honeca) Fuxa and Jason (Dr. Jessica) Fuxa of Houston, Texas and Mark Treptow and Don Treptow of Ithaca.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gerald.

Funeral services were held at Alma Lutheran Church with interment at Alma Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
