Dr. Alcyone Scott
Alcyone Meredith Scott (Dr. Scott) died May 4, 2024 at Pathfinder Place in Fremont. She was born October 25, 1939 to Meredith Lewis and Ernest Peck Scott of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, baby sister to Ellen, Ernest, and Marvin. She was the devoted "Aunt Alcy" to 22 nieces and nephews.
Alcyone earned her undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University in Ohio, then her Master's and PhD in History of Culture from the University of Chicago. In 1966, she began what would be a 45-year career in the English Department at Midland University where she taught literature, ethics, and travel courses around the world. Upon her retirement in 2011, Alcyone stayed active with the art department and an adult literacy program she had helped to establish.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 22, beginning at 4:00 pm at Sinai Lutheran Church.
