Lynn Keith Settje, "Setch," 81, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021, with his daughters near his side. Lynn is preceded in death by three brothers Allen, Lee, and Melvin, and parents Emil & Hilda Settje. He is survived by his two daughters, Heidi (Mike) Wagner and Mandy (Jeff) Logue, and three grandchildren George Owen & Henry Wagner and Nora Logue, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lynn was a loving father, grandfather, and cherished friend! Born in Creston and raised in Fremont, Nebraska, Lynn appreciated art and many creative outlets. He earned his Eagle Scout in 1956. In 1962, Lynn graduated from Midland Lutheran College with a BA in Art and History and moved to Greeley, CO, where he earned a MA in Art from Colorado State College and a PhD in Personnel Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Lynn's love of travel took him to over thirty seven countries. His extensive travels in Europe inspired his interest in food, art, and design. In 1973, he opened Northern Colorado's first dinner theater, The Chuckwagon Dinner Playhouse. He also owned and operated Skyscene Flowers for a number of years. Lynn had an extensive career as an educator including serving as art teacher at the elementary through collegiate levels and leading as the Principal of the UNC Laboratory School. Additionally, Lynn was a junior high school administrator and the Director of Student Activities at UNC. In 2008, Lynn retired from his position as the first CEO of the Greeley Independence Stampede, Northern Colorado's premiere summer rodeo and western event . This role encompassed his love of community development and entertainment at a grander scale. Since retirement, Lynn's favorite moments were those spent with his grandchildren. Lynn will be remembered as a planner, a decorator, a collector, an entertainer, a leader, a father, and a lover of all things chocolate. He also was an appreciator of a good glass of scotch, Christmas, the theater, family traditions, and was a friend who will be missed by many. Funeral services for Lynn will be at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greeley on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00AM. Please visit https://www.marks funeralservice.com/ .
