Earl Raymond Wiegert, age 96 of Fremont passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Pathfinder Place in Fremont.
Earl was born February 28, 1928 in Fremont to Emmons and Lou Emma (Raser) Wiegert. Earl was an outstanding athlete in high school, earning All-State in basketball and graduated in 1946 from Fremont High School. He served in the United States Army 1946-1948, receiving the WW II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). Earl graduated from Midland Lutheran College in 1953 and married Marilyn Nelson the same year. He was employed at the Mead Ordinance Plant (which is where he met Marilyn) and Asgrow Seed Company before starting his barbering career in 1960 and retiring in 1989 due to a stroke.
Earl and Marilyn (retired FPS school teacher) enjoyed many years of retirement together. Earl's passion was his wife, family and attending numerous sporting activities watching his children and grandchildren over the years.
Earl was a member of Fremont Alliance Church, the YMCA and former member of the Eagles.
Earl is survived by his daughter LuAnn (Clint) Walraven, sons Kyle (Dawn) Wiegert and John Wiegert all of Fremont. He is also survived by his grandsons Jason (Vickie) Hack, Trevor (Emma) Wiegert; great grandchildren Brandtley Hack, Lucas Hack and Sophie Wiegert.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, parents, grandson Derek Hack, brother Dale (Darlene) Wiegert and nephew Erich Wiegert.
The funeral will be 10:30am, Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Fremont Alliance Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials are suggested to the church.
