Memorial Services for Eleanor Foust age 86 of Stanton, NE formerly of West Point, NE will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the New England Congregational Church in Stanton, NE with Pastor Linda Mohr officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Nebraska Alzheimer’s Association, 11711 Arbor St., Suite 110 Omaha, NE 68144, or the West Point Library Foundation, or your local library in Eleanor’s name.
Eleanor passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Stanton Health Center.
Eleanor Lucile (Finley) Foust was born on October 5, 1932 in Columbus, NE to Robert and Mildred (Molacek) Finley. She grew up in the Richland/Columbus, NE area on a farm. Eleanor was a very good student and graduated from Columbus High School in 1950, she attended Wayne Normal School and Midland College and went on to teach country school.
On July 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Willard Foust at the Methodist Church in Schuyler, NE. They were blessed with four children. She stayed home and was a busy homemaker. They lived in Richland, Schuyler, Hastings, and Storm Lake, IA before moving to West Point in 1974. Eleanor worked at the Public Library in Storm Lake and later at the Elementary School Library for 17 years before semi-retiring. Eleanor went on to work as a Family Support Worker for Social Services and also worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block.
Eleanor loved to garden, bake, knitting, crocheting, was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her DQ coffee crowd. She belonged to the Trinity Church Quilt Club and card clubs. Eleanor had served on the Eastern Nebraska Library Council for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her son-in-law’s always remarked about how good her cooking was.
