Glen Straker '75

Glen StrakerGlen Pierson Straker of Walpole, MA passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 13, 2022, at Walpole Healthcare Center in Walpole, MA. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen (Kenedy) Straker.

Born on July 8, 1953, he was the son of the late Frank Straker and the late Norma (Carlson) Straker.

Glen grew up in North Attleboro, MA and was a proud member of the North Attleboro High School football team until his family relocated to Malvern, PA, during his junior year. He continued his football career at Great Valley Senior High School in Malvern, PA, where he graduated in June, 1971. In 1975 he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE.

Upon graduation he returned to Pennsylvania where he was employed in various positions in warehousing and distribution. In 2006 he followed his dream of moving to Dardanelle, AR, where he married the love of his life, Kathleen Kenedy. Adding to his joy was the presence of two step-grandchildren, Skylynn and Xander whom he loved dearly.

Upon the death of his parents, Glen undertook an exhaustive search to determine the identity of his biological family. In 2007 he traveled to Massachusetts to meet his biological mother, two sisters, and a brother. He was welcomed with open arms.

In 2017, his wife died suddenly, and Glen’s health began to decline. He returned to Massachusetts in 2018 to be near his family.

He was an avid sports fan. His greatest joy was donning Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins or Celtics hats, whichever sport was in season, as he watched the games on television.

A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Glen had a strong faith that saw him through many personal tragedies.

He is survived by his sisters Diane (Sullivan) Falanga and Maureen (Sullivan) Achouirif, and his brother William Sullivan. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Sullivan and sister Janice Sullivan. He leaves many members of both his adoptive and biological families who loved him dearly.
