Iris Lamme '69

Iris LammeIris Mae Lamme, age 78 of Seguin, Texas, went to be with our Lord on May 15, 2025. Iris was born April 11, 1947, in West Point, Nebraska to Anton and Rosalie Pieper.

Iris grew up in Fremont, NE, and graduated from Archbishop Bergan High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont where she was a member of Phi Omega Sorority.

In 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, John Lamme, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, NE.

After graduating, Iris began her teaching career at St. Patrick’s Elementary in Fremont, NE. In 1976 the family moved to Seguin, Texas. There Iris continued her passion for education, teaching middle school in Seguin ISD for 36 years. A dedicated educator, she was also a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Theta Kappa Chapter #202.

In recent years, Iris embraced the joys of retirement, settling into a peaceful life in Seguin with her family and her beloved cat, Sugar Bear. She spent her days cheering on her grandchildren, enjoying her nightly dose of Jeopardy while unwinding with a glass of wine, and taking leisurely walks around the neighborhood. Iris also loved spending time with friends, she was always ready for a good laugh and great company.

Iris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Full of life and love, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family. She was funny, nurturing, forgiving and selfless. She was generous to family, friends and countless charities. A dedicated volunteer, Iris devoted hours to causes close to her heart. She was an ombudsman’s for AACOG for 20 years and an active member of the St. James Catholic Church. Her quiet strength and compassionate spirit made a difference in the lives of many.

Iris is preceded in death by her parents Anton and Rosalie Pieper, husband John Lamme, brothers Tony and Ralph, and sister Bernice.

Iris is survived by: children, Bridget Lamme, David Lamme and wife Chelsea, Kathleen Faith and husband Daryl; grandchildren, Grace Lamme and Weston Faith; adored cat Sugar Bear; nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends.

 Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. A Rosary will follow at 10:30 a.m., with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Canon Stanislaw Fiuk and Father Gregory J. Nevlud officiating. A reception will follow at St. James Parish Hall. Private interment will take place at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Catholic School, 507 South Camp Street, Seguin, TX. 78155, the Archbishop Bergan Catholic School, 545 East 4th Street, Fremont, NE. 68025, or Midland Lutheran University, 900 N. Clarkson St., Fremont, NE. 68025.

Her light, her laughter, and her unwavering kindness will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
