Jeanne Chapman Clark '39
Jeanne Margaret Clark passed away peacefully on November 10 at the age of 100.
Jeanne was a native of Nebraska and born in Arlington to parents Joseph C. Chapman and Louise Belle Hammang. She was the youngest of 5 Chapman siblings. Jeanne graduated from Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska in May of 1939 and taught high school English, Algebra, Geometry and Latin at Beaver Crossing High School. She married Warren R. Clark (deceased in July of 2005) of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska in May of 1945. They moved to Concord, California in February of 1947. Warren worked for the Post Office and then served as a plant supervisor at Du Pont in Antioch until his retirement. Warren and Jeanne had two children, Cheryl Ann in August of 1946 and Michael Grant in November of 1948. Jeanne and Warren were members of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ since March of 1956 where they served in many capacities. Cheryl has 2 children, Howard Renshaw III, and Kathryn Clark Vernon. Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper for Warren Boggess at Pacific States Aviation for many years and then at McFarland and Bryant Mortuary.
Jeanne is survived by Cheryl Huff (Garry Huff), Michael Clark (Kathy Betsekas), grandchildren Howard Renshaw and Kathryn Vernon, great-grandson Connor Power and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being held on Saturday, December 8, at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church, 3039 Willow Pass Road in Concord. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church, specifically the House and Grounds Committee.
