Joy (Parcel) Domen '64

Retired B.S., RN, CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife). Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Leonard/Hazel Leigh Parcel; brother, Leonard, “Hap” Parcel; and husband, Dennis T. Domen. She is survived by her son, Christopher; wife, Natalie, and beloved grandson, Thomas T. Domen of Denver, CO.; sisters Melodie A. Page, Evergreen, CO., and Ruth Gay Cavalcante of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and best friend, Bonnie A. Beckloff of Wichita, KS.

Joy graduated from Immanuel School of Nursing, Omaha, NE; Arizona Bible College; and John Hopkins School of Nurse Midwifery. She worked at Kansas City General Hospital; St. Paul’s Hospital, Labor and Delivery, Dallas, TX.; Wichita State University School of Nursing – Faculty. After her professional nursing career, Joy worked as Director of Children’s Ministry at First Evangelical Free Church, and Hilltop Urban Church, Wichita, KS. She was an active member of the First Evangelical Free Church and Hilltop Urban Church, until she moved to Aurora, CO., two years ago, to be closer to her son/grandson and family. While in the Denver area, she became an active member of the Fellowship Community Church in Centennial, CO.

In her early years, she grew up in Bukavu, Congo, where her parents were missionaries. She returned to the United States for High School and Nursing School. Joy, dearly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and dedicated her life’s work to Christian education and discipleship. She was a woman of extraordinary faith, love, and compassion. She will be dearly missed by her family, and many many friends.
