Marianna C. Bjurstrom, 90, of Homeland Center, Harrisburg died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the center.
An Air Force Veteran, she served as a Flight Nurse in the Korean War. Following her career in nursing Marianna worked for and ultimately retired from Pennsylvania Blue Shield.
Through her membership in Market Square Presbyterian Church and West Shore YMCA she was committed to serving the community.
Marianna’s passions included music- attending the Symphony, listening to Tony Bennett, Oscar Peterson and participating in sing-a-longs at the Center. She loved painting and was an avid gardener.
Marianna was born June 13, 1926 in Omaha, NE to the late Lewis Carr and Anna Virginia (Johnson) Curtis. She was also preceded in death by her husband Reynold and daughter, Nancy.
She is survived by three daughters, Joanne Costigan of Harrisburg, Karen Lewis of Cambridge Springs, and Laura Bjurstrom of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren, Josey, Ginger, Nathan, Sarah, Angie, and Louie; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5pm until memorial services at 7pm Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
