Marjorie K. Meier, 89, of Fremont died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, in Dunklau Gardens.
Marjorie was born Dec. 11, 1929, near Leshara, Nebraska, to Earl and Mary Elizabeth (Stone) Burt. She was raised in the Leshara area and graduated from Fremont High School. She attended Midland College in Fremont, then taught in rural schools until her marriage.
On Aug. 5, 1951, Marjorie was married to Willard Meier and they made their home in Fremont. They built the home where they have lived for 63 years. After their three daughters were grown, Marjorie worked in the cafeteria of the high school.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a church circle. She enjoyed playing cards and played in several card clubs.
She is survived by her husband Willard; three daughters, Kristie McLeroy of Ft. Worth, Texas, Debra “Debbie” Meier and husband Karl Reinhard of Lincoln, and Julie and husband Richard “Lynn” Schwanke of Fremont; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Brandert of Nickerson; sister-in-law, Arlene Adams of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Wilma DeGroff; and brother, Earl Burt Jr.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday (Jan. 25) at the First United Methodist Church with the committal to follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
