Midland University recently announced plans for the construction of a new residence hall to replace Men’s Memorial Hall as part of a phased campus investment to create comfortable, contemporary spaces for students.

“Since 1947, Men’s Memorial Hall has served our university well but has surpassed its useful life,” said Jody Horner, Midland University President. “We proudly look forward to upgrading the on-campus residence experience for our students by providing a new, modern living and learning environment.”

Miller Hall will be named after James W. Miller and Donna (Johanson) Miller whose generous estate gift laid the foundation for replacing Men’s Memorial Hall. The new structure will provide 98 beds and will take shape in the same footprint as the existing hall, with construction beginning in early spring of 2019 and completion expected by fall of 2020.

The design of the sophomore-level Co-ed residence illustrates the institution's emphasis on social engagement to help students build relationships and make connections that foster their academic success. Miller Hall will feature suite-style living with the majority of students having a private bedroom and shared bathroom, kitchen, and living room, depending on the floor plan. Several ADA compliant suites will also be included. Additional amenities include student lounges, study rooms, and laundry facilities on each floor. The main floor will offer kitchen facilities, a fireplace, outdoor patio, meeting spaces, and a Residence Hall Director suite and office.

The new residence hall represents the completion of the next phase of a $50M student experience investment and manifests the institution’s momentous upward trajectory of relentless relevance.
