Monroe Golliday, age 59 of York, NE died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Lincoln, NE. He was born November 23, 1953 to Monroe and Jessie Mae (Amphy) Golliday in Kankakee, Illinois. On February 28, 1979, Monroe was united in marriage to Jeanne Wanhala in Fremont, NE.
Monroe was in banking for 38 years and retired with Great Western Bank. He was on the Board of Directors at Epworth Village, an active member of the York Community Center, and a member of Sunrise Sertoma. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and his dog Ruby.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne of York; sons: Aaron (Miranda) Golliday of Omaha, NE and Joel Golliday (Jamie True) of San Diego, CA; and grandchildren: Emery, Effie, and Shelden Golliday of Omaha. He is also survived by his aunts Pertithina Amphy of Chicago, IL and Lucille Fifer of Kankakee, IL.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, York. No Visitation. Memorials may be directed to Epworth Village.
