Campus Ministry & Spiritual Wellness

Campus Ministry & Spiritual Wellness

Midland University is a Christian higher education institution firmly rooted in the Lutheran tradition that actively maintains affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

As a Christian university, open to people from all denominational backgrounds, Midland is committed to creating quality learning opportunities within a faith-filled community. With an active campus ministry program, chapel services, Bible studies, and Christian service opportunities, Midland endeavors to nurture students as they grow in their faith and live the rewards of active stewardship.

Campus Ministry & Spiritual Wellness Program

Our Campus Ministry & Spiritual Wellness program helps our students discover their faith and find their purpose in the world. Led by Lisa Kramme ‘87, our students have the opportunity to explore faith in a variety of ways on campus.

  • Reflections - On the first Tuesday of the month, we host Reflections, a time of guided meditation in Midland’s Planetarium and a calm spot in the midst of the hectic pace that college life can be.
  • Community Meal - The second Tuesday of the month we gather around tables at the Community Meal, passing food family style and sharing stories of life and faith. A guest pastor is invited to each meal to share how meals have been important parts of the Christian story throughout history, and then the pastor shares Holy Communion with those gathered.
  • Midland Outreach and Volunteer Engagement (MOVE) - On the third Tuesday we volunteer to serve our neighbors in a variety of ways.
  • Community Chapel - On the fourth Tuesday we gather for Community Chapel where we sing and pray, and a student, faculty or staff member shares their vocation story.

Other ministry opportunities:
 • Back-to-School Blessing at the Cross at the Center Fountain
 • Student Leader Blessing on the 2nd floor of Clemmons Hall
 • Ashes to Go near the Faith banner on the campus green
 • Advent Prayer Stations on the 3rd floor of Olson Student Center
 • Connection and conversation - whenever Lisa Kramme’s ‘87, Director of Campus Ministry & Spiritual Wellness, office door is open, she’s available. Whether that be for a conversation about faith, grief, vocation, transitions, or just general day-to-day life, Lisa is here to support our students (and faculty and staff) through it all.

The office of Campus Ministry & Spiritual Wellness also offers free garage sales at least once a semester and a free Farmer’s Market in the summer and early fall through the Warrior Open Cupboard, a free food and hygiene pantry available to any current Midland student. In addition, the office partners with the Global Warriors, an international student organization, to find donated bikes for students, and partnered with a variety of faculty and staff members to offer wellness-related presentations to classes.
