Seeing students succeed during, and after, their time at Midland University is what motivates Dr. Jamie Simpson, Chief Academic Officer.
Since joining Midland 13 years ago, Jamie’s vision has been for students to excel and be prepared for the next phase of their lives. “I have held a number of roles at Midland, but my passion continues to be providing the best learning experience possible for our students,” she said. “Nothing makes me more proud than hearing about the great things our graduates are doing. I love seeing them go to graduate school, excel in their careers, become parents, and take on active roles in their communities. I am a first generation college student, so it’s especially rewarding when I see students who experience challenges during their college journey persevere and succeed.”
A native of Grand Island, Nebraska, Jamie’s college experience was at a large state school, so her initial stop at Midland took some getting used to. “It was quite a culture shock for me,” she said. “I didn’t know any of my undergraduate faculty, but I quickly came to appreciate the close relationships faculty are able to form with students. I was thrilled to be offered a full time faculty spot in 2012 and I have never looked back!”
Jamie lives in Gretna where she is busy following two sons (12 and 10) during their various sports and other activities. When she does have some time for herself, she loves to travel and bake.
