Summary of the Immanuel-Midland Nursing Alumni Association Annual Business Meeting April 13, 2024
The Immanuel-Midland Nursing Alumni Association met for their annual business meeting on April 13, 2024.
52 members of the Alumni Association were present.
A recap of the Association’s happenings since the last meeting in April, 2023:
- Six junior nursing students were selected to receive a $550.00 scholarship each for the 2024-25 academic year.
- In April, a donation of $5000.00 was made to the Health Science Building campaign as part of the I-MNAA naming rights for a classroom.
- Two members attended the pinning ceremony in May presenting a rose and a one year complimentary membership to the Alumni Association.
- A blooming geranium plant was presented to each nursing faculty member during Nurses’ Week in May.
- In July a donation of $250.00 was made to the Health Science Building campaign in honor of Dr. Linda Quinn upon her retirement.
- In October small goodie bags were distributed to 81 nursing students.
- In November three board members served in the role of patients for a part of two days for the stroke simulation unit for the nursing students.
- In March a board member mentored nursing students who took blood pressures at the Midland Health and Wellness Fair on campus.
- In March a board member represented the association at the MU Scholarship Luncheon.
- Executive Board, along with the assistance of Evan Hunt, Alumni Relations Manager, planned and hosted the reunion and luncheon for you today.
- Several board members have facilitated the quarterly e-mail newsletters and/or mailing to the alumni membership.
Four members of the Executive Board of the Alumni Association were elected as follows: Two year terms: Julie Frederick, Jan Jordan, Jan Ostransky, Joan Wellensiek
The association approved a donation of $5,000.00 to the Health Science Building campaign with designation for the I-MNAA room naming rights.
A $550 scholarship was awarded for the 2024-25 academic year to each of six junior nursing students. The recipients of the scholarship are Lazara Acosta, Kaylee Bergstrom, Patrick Long, Daisey Madora, Chiara Richeson, Joelle Zipp.
As per the bylaws and as approved by the Executive Board, Honorary Membership to Immanuel-Midland
Nursing Alumni Association were conferred upon:
- Elaine Cline for serving as clinical practice partner with Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing and Midland Lutheran College Nursing Program students
- Dr. Martha Foxall for outstanding service and dedication rendered to Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing and Midland Lutheran College Department of Nursing.
The 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Immanuel-Midland Nursing Alumni Association is being planned for Saturday, April 12, 2025. Put this date on your calendar.
