Deborah Kay “Deb” Wohlenhaus, 76, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at The Heritage at Legacy in Omaha.
Deb was born on January 27, 1950, in Ames, Iowa, to Dr. C. R. Denham and Helen (Byers) Denham. She grew up in Cumberland, where she graduated from high school before attending Immanuel School of Nursing. She earned her nursing degree in 1971 and began what would become a remarkable 45-year career as a registered nurse.
On September 4, 1971, Deb married the love of her life, Fred R. Wohlenhaus. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.
Throughout her career, Deb faithfully served patients and communities in a variety of nursing roles, from direct patient care to hospital administration. Her compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication touched countless lives before her retirement in 2016.
Outside of her professional life, Deb found joy in quilting, cheering on her favorite basketball teams, and serving her church. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Deb is lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Fred Wohlenhaus; her son, John Wohlenhaus and his wife, Donna, of Creston, Iowa; her daughter, Anna Amdor and her husband, Mark, of Massena, Iowa; and her son, Nate Wohlenhaus and his wife, Tami, of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Austin Wohlenhaus; Alex Wohlenhaus and his wife, Alexis; Jackson Wohlenhaus and his wife, Lexi; Travis Wohlenhaus; Sidney Amdor; and Guthrie Amdor. She is further survived by her sister, Kathy Cullen and her husband, Francis; her brother, Tom Denham and his wife, Janet; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. C. R. Denham and Helen (Byers) Denham, and her brother, Tim Denham.
Deb’s life was defined by compassion, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a servant’s heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 9th at Journey Church, 20020 Hampton Dr, Gretna, NE 68028 with visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am and the Celebration of Life Service from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
