CaSandra (Sandy) Jean (Curry) Bostock, 82, of Ayr, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Good Samaritan Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska. Born on November 19, 1943, in Superior, Nebraska, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Mary Ann (Skjelver) Curry.
Known as Cassie in her younger years, Sandy never had the opportunity to meet her father, who was killed in action in Germany just ten months after her birth. Despite this early loss, Sandy grew into a warm, kindhearted woman who touched the lives of those around her through her gentle spirit, caring nature, and devotion to her family.
Sandy attended country school at District 45 through 8th grade and then graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1961 and went on to Midland Lutheran College, now Midland University, where she earned a degree in business/accounting. After graduation, she began her career as a bookkeeper at Hill Oil Co in Superior, Nebraska.
On October 22, 1967, Sandy married Lyle Bostock, beginning a life together centered on family, faith, and farming. Throughout their married life, Sandy and Lyle farmed side by side. Sandy took great pride in keeping meticulous farm records and, in her fifties, learned the ins and outs of grain marketing. Her knowledge and dedication led to her election to the County Board for the Farm Service Agency.
Sandy was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, where her faith was an important part of her life. She shared that faith by teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, participating in Women's Bible Study, and serving as the church custodian. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Blue Hill and volunteered as a Special Olympics coach, reflecting her compassion and desire to serve others.
Her commitment to learning and growing began in childhood through 4-H, an experience she valued throughout her life. She passed that appreciation on to the next generations, and all four of her children and all seven of her grandchildren had the opportunity to experience 4-H.
Sandy had many talents and found joy in caring for the people she loved. An avid seamstress, she lovingly made her daughters' prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses, and even sewed a wedding dress for one of them. She enjoyed gardening and preserving the fruits of her labor to share with her family. Her love of cooking and baking became another treasured gift she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Sandy also embraced technology, using her smartphone to keep in close touch with her family. Even in her later years, she stayed connected in her own special way, following her children's locations on GPS. It was just one more expression of the love and concern she carried for her family every day.
Above all, Sandy will be remembered as a warm and sweet woman whose love was woven into the everyday moments of life. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a lovingly sewn dress, a carefully tended garden, or a simple check-in to see where her family was, she found meaningful ways to show how much she cared. Her steady presence, gentle heart, and devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children: Angela (Michael) Kruse of Columbus, Nebraska; Jason Bostock of Ayr, Nebraska, and his special friend, Anne Hermann of Hastings, Nebraska; Abby (Jesse) Carman of Shelton, Nebraska; and William (Leslie) Bostock of Hastings, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Colin (Alyssa) Kruse of Kansas City, Missouri; Sara Kruse of Omaha, Nebraska; Eli Kruse of Columbus, Nebraska; Callee, Colton, and Colby Carman of Shelton, Nebraska; and Ava Bostock of Hastings, Nebraska; her brother, Tom (Pam) Johnson of Blue Hill, Nebraska; her brother-in-law, Lonny Bostock of Ayr, Nebraska; her sisters-in-law, Ollene Graham of Puyallup, Washington; Brenda Nichols of Nashville, Tennessee; and Connie Bostock of Red Cloud, Nebraska; along with many extended family members and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lyle; her parents, LeRoy Curry and Bill and Mary Ann Johnson; her brother, James Johnson; her sister-in-law, Norma Bostock; and her brothers-in-law, Larry Bostock, Murle (Al) Graham, and Darrell (Nick) Nichols.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Sandy has been reunited with Lyle and those who went before her.
