George J. Siers, age 89, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Fremont passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, in Omaha. 

George was born born near Arlington, NE, March 29, 1928, to William and Margaret (Hansen) Siercks. He lived in Beatrice, Fremont and Missouri before retiring to Palm Springs, CA. He spent his last years living in Ft. Collins, Co. He attended Fremont Public Schools and Midland Lutheran College where he obtained a BS in Business Administration, 1957. He also attended Syracuse University School of Sales Management & Marketing, 1967.

He began his career on his 22nd birthday as a retail store manager & part owner, 1952. He then joined the US Army and served with the Military Police where he served in Japan, 1952-1954. George earned his honorable discharge with Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Medal. Following his military career he worked for Tote Systems in Beatrice, NE, serving as the General Sales Manager from 1957-1970. He also worked for Hoover Ball & Bearing serving as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Erwin, TN, from 1970-1972. George also worked for Pathfinder Companies, where he served as President, from 1975 until the time of his passing.

George was very involved in the communities that he lived in. He served on many boards including Fremont, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, Eagles, Beatrice - Board of Trustees John J. Pershing College, Masonic Lodge, Nebraska York Rite of Freemasonry, Royal Order of Jesters, Lincoln - Sesostris Shrine Temple, Past President Blue Valley Shrine Club, Nebraska - Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska, New York - American Legion Post No. 20, Tennessee - Organized & served as first President of Unicol County, TN Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club

He was a member of the Church of Christ Church in Beatrice, Nebraska, as well as St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Murphy in 2006. 

He is survived by his two children Jay Siers and Gigi Siers, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and special friend Barbara Anderson.

Memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11AM at Dugan Funeral Chapel. Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 854 and American Legion Post #20 following the memorial service at Dugan Funeral Chapel. Gathering will follow at J's Steakhouse.
