Marjorie Woolsey Brewer '42
Marjorie L. Brewer passed away at age 96 in Wichita Falls, Texas on February 13, 2017.
Originally from Red Oak, Iowa, she was born Marjorie Woolsey, the sole child of E.J. and Nora Woolsey on June 28th, 1920. She graduated from nursing school at Immanuel Deaconess Institute of Omaha, Kansas. In 1942, she joined the Army Nurse Corps where she met and married Captain Raymond E. Brewer, and Army Air Corps pilot. They were married for 46 years until his death in 1988.
Marge loved to sew, read, needlepoint, and play bridge. She cherished spending time with her two grandchildren and often travelled with them. She did volunteer work for Interfaith Ministries and the Adult Literacy Council. She was a member of first Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her two children: Jack R. Brewer and wife Diane of Apalachicola, Florida and Lael Burton and husband Bernard of Wichita Falls; grandchildren: Mark Burton and wife Gia of Old Greenwich, Connecticut and Matthew Burton and wife Laura of Brooklyn, New York; and great-grandchildren: Charlotte Mary, Jake Raymond, Mark Andrew, and Harriet Joyce.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Presbyterian Manor for their years of care and companionship.
A memorial service celebrating Marjorie's life will be held at 10 AM, April 8, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church.
