Miriam Marie Boyd, age 89, passed away November 16, 2017.
Miriam was born July 19, 1928, in Beatrice, Neb., to the late William P. and Loretta L. (Renner) Hieronymus. She graduated from Fremont High in 1946. She then graduated from Midland College where her father served as President of the college in 1950. Miriam was united in marriage to Richard W. Boyd in Fremont, Neb., on May 27, 1950, and together moved to Council Bluffs in 1956.
Miriam taught school at Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln High Schools for over 31 years and her memberships include Saint John Lutheran Church, where she was very active member, Omaha Symphonic Chorus member, Delta Kappa Gamma, Opera Omaha, where she sang for 15 years, and was part of many productions at the Omaha Community Playhouse where her husband Richard played Scrooge for many years in Christmas Carol. Miriam loved animals and believed in donating to their causes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Virginia Baack and Carol Chapman.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Richard W. Boyd; son, Richard A. (Patti) Boyd; daughters and husbands, Carol (Tim) Swanger, of Lenexa, Kan., Lynne M. Boyd (David Neely), Ann E. Boyd, all of Council Bluffs; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation Sunday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Saint John Lutheran Church. Funeral service Monday, 10 a.m., also at Saint John’s. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery with a luncheon to follow back at church. Memorials are suggested to Saint John’s Church Choir.
