What year did you graduate and what was your major?
I graduated in 2011 and I was able to major in Business Administration and Religion/Philosophy.

What are you doing now and where?
I currently teach marketing and speech classes at Midland.

How did your experience at Midland prepare you for your career?
During my time at Midland, I had so many great professors that spent time with me to teach me the necessary things to prepare me for life after college, but I also was able to use all of the co-curricular opportunities and work study programs to really put those things into practice. The opportunities I had available to me through my Midland experience were really incredible and were vital in shaping who I am today.

In particular, Jordan Rasmussen was a staff member that really took me under her wing to teach me more about writing, donor relations, communications and really pushed me to get better every day.

Did a particular faculty member leave a lasting impression on you?
Jeremy Rehwaldt was (and still is) a teacher that really did an excellent job of allowing students to be hands-on with their education. If we were talking about social inequality, we would do in-class activities to demonstrate what it might look like. He goes above and beyond for each student and really pushes them to grow academically, but also as people. Additionally, he's a very talented table tennis player.

What is your fondest memory of Midland?
I proposed to my wife (Katie McKenna, Class of 2012) in Lund Hall. It probably wasn't the most romantic location, but proposing on-campus was sort of symbolic of how our relationship had grown and developed during our time at Midland.

How do you spend your leisure time? Any hobbies?
We bought the historic home of Dr. Bill Christensen, a renowned Midland faculty member. As a result, we spend a lot of time planning and completing small updates. Katie and I spend a lot of time attending Midland arts and athletic events. We also participate in "fun" runs when possible. The fun in running can be limited at times though.

How do you stay connected to Midland?
I stay connected through teaching, being involved in campus activities such as attending events, advising Anderson Leaders, and serving as the PA for some athletic events.

Fun or interesting fact about you:
I may have the only collection of legal street signs from both Midland Lutheran College and Midland University. Neither sign was stolen, but students always inquire how they ended up on my office wall (pictured here.)
