Shirley M. Moerker, 86 years, of Fremont passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in Fremont. She was born Nov. 4, 1931, at rural North Bend to Emil and Mildred (Ondracek) Kracl.
Shirley grew up in North Bend and graduated high school in 1948. She received her teacher’s certificate from Midland Lutheran College. She started teaching country school at the age of 16. Shirley married Everett Moerker on June 8, 1952, in Mead. They moved to Fremont in 1953. She retired in 1993.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fremont.
Survived by husband, Everett; son, Troy (Sid) Moerker, all of Fremont; brother, Emil ‘Bud’ (Glee) Kracl; and sister, Linda (Raymond) Ladwig, all of Schuyler; two stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
The memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at First Baptist Church in Fremont. Memorial Visitation on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., all at Moser’s in Fremont.
Burial will be at Platteville Cemetery, south of Fremont.
