Grayce Arlene Swenson
Grayce Arlene Swenson, 83, a devout Christian, left the Church Militant, transitioning to the Church Triumphant, on March 23, 2018 at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds, Wash.
She was born Aug. 5, 1934 in Wahoo and was the daughter of Ernest G. and Elvera E. Anderson. She was a graduate of Wahoo High School and the Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha. She served as a registered nurse in the states of Illinois, New York, Iowa, Minnesota and Washington, including 12 years as the director of nursing services at the Delta Rehab facility in Snohomish, Wash.
She was married Aug. 13, 1955 to Norris C. Swenson and was the devoted mother of three daughters, Krista Lynn, Karla Marie and Laurie Ann. She and her husband moved to the state of Washington in 1979, where he became the founding pastor of Advent Lutheran Church in Bothell (now Mill Creek). Her life was a concentration of loving and serving others. She looked forward each summer to spending time with the growing family at their cabin on Boulder Lake, near Park Rapids, Minn. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping and collecting candles. She poured forth her love for her family and was greatly loved by each of them. Her influence, appreciatively, lives on in her family. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in North Lakewood, Wash.
She is survived by her husband, Norris; daughters, Krista (Corey) Cook of Marysville, Wash., Karla (Ashok) Kewalramani of Dakota Dunes, S.D. and Laurie (Karan) Vasishth of Bellevue, Wash.; a sister, Goldie Anderson of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Danielle) Schlee of Chicago, Ill., Stephanie (Kevin) Bach of Tulalip, Wash., Jordan (Nicole) Schlee of Grimes, Iowa, Sara (Adam) Chumbley of Silvana, Wash., Shannon (Chris) Hite of Stanwood, Wash., Brooke Schlee of Waterloo, Iowa, Jonathan Brown of Lynnwood, Wash., Dillon Schlee of Los Angeles, Calif., Erika Brown, Peyton Cook and Paige Cook, all of Marysville, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Camden, Keegan and Carson Bach, Avery Hite, Jaxxon Carter, Elin Schlee and Portland Chumbley and two more great-grandsons “on the way”; and many other relatives, including brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Remembrances in her memory will be forwarded to the Sjogren Syndrome Foundation, and/or Faith Lutheran Church of North Lakewood.
