Bonnie Fields Rothery '48
Bonnie Jean Rothery of Rio Rancho, NM, completed her journey back to God on November 6, 2017. Bonnie passed away peacefully in her home, comforted by her son and daughter, Douglas and Pamela Rothery. Born in Omaha, NE, October 6, 1927. Bonnie was 90 years young and remained strong and determined, even during her final months in hospice home care. While our hearts are broken, and we know we will never be the same without Bonnie near, we take comfort knowing she is reunited in Heaven with her husband of 64 years, Fred Rothery. Bonnie always dreamed of being a nurse. She entered the Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII and fulfilled her dream when she graduated as a RN from Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Bonnie worked in the operating room for over forty years and upon retirement from Immanuel, she moved to Albuquerque, NM, and worked at Kaseman Hospital. Bonnie loved nursing and always said she would return to nursing "in a minute" if she could. Oh, the stories she could tell! Her memories of the wonderful people she worked with and her time spent as a nurse in the operating room stayed with her throughout her life. Bonnie cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Rothery; her parents, Eugene and Violet Fields; grand-daughter Randi Rothery. Bonnie leaves precious memories in the hearts of her children, Douglas Rothery and wife Nancy of Phoenix, AZ; Pamela Rothery of Rio Rancho, NM; brother, Jack Fields and wife Kathy of Mineola, TX; grand-children: Stephanie Cross and husband Ryan of Phoenix, AZ; Shaun Rothery and wife Sabrina of Austin, TX; Spencer Rothery of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Colton, and Nolan Cross of Phoenix, AZ; dear friends in Nebraska and New Mexico. The family wishes to thank friends and family who gave their support over the difficult years. A grateful thank you to the doctors, nurses, and aides of Presbyterian Hospice for their support in helping Pamela care for Bonnie at her home. A Family Gathering for sharing tears, laughter, and the wonderful memories of our exceptional "Nana" will be held during the holidays. In memory of Bonnie, please consider a donation to your local animal Shelter or charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. As you remember Bonnie, we ask that you would share a kind word, smile, and hug with those you love. Daniels Family Funeral Services Rio Rancho, NM (505) 892-9920.
