Marian Bowman '54
Marian Bowman peacefully passed away on July 24, 2018, at the age of 86. Marian's Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 at Casa De Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, Arizona, with a reception following at Sagewood Retirement Community.
Marian was born on Sept. 30, 1931, in Schuyler to John and Louise Payzant. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. Marian received her Bachelors degree in English Literature at Midland College in Fremont. At Midland she met James Bowman of California. They married and the Nebraska farm girl moved to southern California. They lived in the same house in Simi Valley for 47 years before moving to a retirement community in Phoenix in 2012.
Marian had a keen intellect and a great memory for details. She easily quoted classic poems and passages, some of which she learned at a one-room schoolhouse she attended for several years. She loved music and sang alto in church choirs and at her retirement community. Most of all she loved people; her family and friends. She made friends everywhere she went. We will miss her generous and loving spirit.
Marian is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jim; daughters Nancy Dimson (Phil), Karen LaLone (Mark), sister Donna Johnson and grandchildren Heather, Skyler, Macy and Mia.
