Midland University Achieves Record Enrollment
This fall, Midland University reached record enrollment of 1,395 students, the largest-ever in the institute’s 135-year history. This news comes on the heels of The Chronicle of Higher Education recognizing Midland as the ninth fastest-growing private, non-profit baccalaureate institution in the nation.
“Our vision is to provide relevant, innovative, and dynamic learning experiences for our students by working from the marketplace back to ensure their career readiness,” said Midland University President Jody Horner. “This commitment to being relentlessly relevant has driven growth in both our undergraduate campus in Fremont as well as in our graduate and professional studies programs at our Omaha Center.”
At Midland, students benefit from a modern approach to liberal arts education which empowers them to be both well-rounded individuals and experience immersive, real-world application both inside and outside the classroom.
A 15:1 faculty to student ratio, mentorship programs, holistic student advising, and dedicated programs aimed at providing students with tools and resources for successful degree completion manifests a collective commitment across the university that is not only understood, it is felt.
“We live out our mission to inspire individuals to learn and lead in the world with purpose by taking a personalized approach to education and ensuring student success,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing Merritt Nelson. “At Midland, students are known by name and experience a deep sense of community, purpose, and commitment to creating a better world.”
Continued growth at Midland is also reflective of the university’s recognition as the largest athletic departmentin the state of Nebraska with 32 varsity sports, hundreds of performing arts opportunities, as well as Honors, Greek Life, Campus Ministry, and dozens of other clubs & organizations where students can get involved for a well-rounded college experience.
New investments illustrate the school’s passionate pursuit of providing dynamic student experiences, such as the state-of-the-art Simulation Lab which was unveiled earlier this summer in partnership with Fremont Health. Eikmeier Commons, a brand-new student space that will act as the ‘kitchen table’ for the university, was completed this summer in the third phase of their investment in student spaces. Previous renovations include a modern dining hall complete with pizza oven and gourmet options as well as the Warrior Grille which attracts students with its Starbucks coffee and easy grab-and-go options.
“The best part is that we’re just getting started,” said Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing Merritt Nelson. “We have high-reaching goals as to how we can continue to innovate in order to provide our students the most relevant, dynamic educational opportunities in the region.”
